Archive of the Unbroken
Archive of the Unbroken explores how the craft of ceramic repair can contribute to building social connections by bringing people together during collecting and repairing, and by sharing stories. What if breaking is just the first step toward designing? You are cordially invited to take a peek inside a living repair workshop. Inspired by the informal, small-scale repair cultures we grew up with, the exhibition redefines the approach to repair: talk to others, see how they do it, and use creativity to make the best of what is available!
Daniela Tokashiki Studio
Ziyi and Daniela collaborate at the intersection of design, research, and social engagement. They met while studying Social Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven and discovered a shared interest in grassroots and non-Western approaches to design. Ziyi's practice focuses on observation, writing, and reflection, involving communities to uncover forgotten stories. Daniela explores craft from its socio-economic and cultural dimensions and traces the ways in which material knowledge shapes livelihoods and resilience. Together, they develop projects that challenge dominant design narratives, drawing on local knowledge systems, repair cultures, and context-specific practices to outline alternative future scenarios for making and living.
