Moving Harmony
While a jazz accompaniment plays, a motorized platform tilts in real time along with the played chords, projecting the harmony onto the circle of fifths. Users can also play along using twelve buttons on the platform, which can be heard on top of the accompaniment. It is a physical, interactive tool that makes harmonic tension tangible.
Karlijn Verberne
I recently graduated from TU/e, where I completed the Master's program in Industrial Design. Moving Harmony is my final project for this program. I am a designer who creates interactive and physical products with a user-centered focus. I see myself as an intermediary between the abstract and the practical, and I believe it is important that my designs are accessible and transparent. Users should be able to follow how a system translates the abstract into the physical world and learn from it. Recently, I have focused on music education. My background as a musician comes in handy here, as I can communicate with users and their needs based on my own experience.
