Music for all
Playing a musical instrument is good for children's brain development. A large proportion of children and adults with a severe disability do not play a musical instrument and will never go to music lessons. Also, many children and adults with (severe) physical and/or multiple disabilities cannot participate independently during music activities in the classroom or care facility. Thanks to our innovations, this is a thing of the past!
Stichting My Breath My Music
Ruud van der Wel is a respiratory therapist. He works with severely disabled children. In 2000 he started using electronic wind instruments in his therapy sessions and in 2005 he launched the website www.mybreathmymusic.com. Not long after that he co-developed a new musical instrument: the Magic Flute. In November 2008, he founded the My Breath My Music foundation. This foundation aims to give people with severe physical disabilities the opportunity to make music. In 2012, he began thinking about developing hardware for breathing exercises in combination with breathing-controlled apps. In 2015, the first GroovTubes found their way to users. In 2020, he and his son started the website www.nmagaming.nl. Here you can get information and help about playing video games with severe disabilities. Children and adults can borrow music and gaming equipment from the foundation for a very low fee. We have developed 9 instruments.
