StudBus and Jojanneke Tamis win Innovation Awards

The winners of the Innovation Awards 2026 have been announced. Two awards were presented on Saturday afternoon during Maker Days Eindhoven.
StudBus Smart Control System won the award for Best Product and Jojanneke Tamis was named Best Maker with her 3D printed fashion. In addition to the award, both winners will receive an amount of €500, made possible by Rabobank

From ten nominated projects, the jury chose the two winners on Saturday. This not only looked at technical innovation, but also at creativity, accessibility, craftsmanship and the way in which a project manages to enthuse others.

Best Product: StudBus Smart Control System

The Innovation Award for Best Product went to StudBus Smart Control System by Mark Huijbers.

StudBus is a modular system that can easily provide LEGO and model building with smart lighting via Wi-Fi. Via a browser, users can set colors, effects and different channels themselves, without the need for programming knowledge.

It was precisely this accessibility and ease of use that stood out, according to the jury. StudBus makes technology visible and invites you to play with it. This makes the system interesting for experienced makers, but also for children who are introduced to technology in an accessible way.

Moreover, the possibilities are wide. The system can be used for LEGO and model building, but in principle also for all kinds of other objects that you want to make smarter or more interactive with light.

The jury praised the broad appeal of the project and the way in which StudBus makes technology accessible to a large audience.

Mark Huijbers reacted proudly and happily to winning the award.

Best Maker: Jojanneke Tamis

The award for Best Maker went to 3D-printed fashion designer Jojanneke Tamis.

Tamis combines fashion, technology and new materials in wearable designs. With 3D printers and digital design tools, she makes flexible dresses, printed lace and experimental textiles, among other things.

According to the jury, she brings different worlds together in a special way. Technology, material, fashion and creativity come together in one maker. Tamis carries out the entire process itself: from the initial idea and design to experimenting with materials and the final result.

The jury was also impressed by the quality of her work. By approaching 3D printing not only as a technical production method, but as a means to create new forms and materials within fashion, it gives a new dimension to fashion, according to the jury.

Or as the jury summarized it: this is the future

Makers who take technology further

With the Innovation Awards, Maker Days Eindhoven wants to put makers and projects in the spotlight that show what is possible when technology, creativity and curiosity come together.

The two winners each do so in a very different way. StudBus makes smart technology accessible and invites a wide audience to experiment with it. Jojanneke Tamis, on the other hand, explores the boundaries between technology, material, art and fashion.

In addition to the honor, both winners will receive €500 prize money, made possible by Rabobank.

Maker Days Eindhoven will continue for another day on Sunday 13 September. From 11:00 to 18:00, visitors can get acquainted with hundreds of makers, projects, robots, installations and workshops in the Klokgebouw at Strijp-S – including the award-winning projects.
